Building Implosion in Slow Motion HD

Why would anyone wake up at 5:00 AM on a Saturday? To see a building implode via dynamite demolition of course. I have never witnessed a building imploding in person before, so I just had to check it out. And since I was going to see this, of course I brought along my camera to gather what could be some valuable DV Rebel footage for future use. Here’s what I came back with from my HVX200 shooting at 60 FPS. I added a little ramp and color graded with Magic Bullet Looks.

FREE T-Shirt Promotion: Buy 3 Film Tees, Get 1 Free

I’m having a special promotion at my T-Shirt company. For those that don’t know about Film Tees, it is the premiere online t-shirt shop for filmmakers. Go on over and take a look at some of the shirts. I’m sure you’ll find one that suits you. If not, I am always open to suggestions.

Here’s the deal on the promotion.

We are giving away a free shirt to anyone who orders three or more shirts. We quite literally need to make some room on the shelves for new designs and styles. Here are the details… If you order any three colored t-shirts (any that are not white), you get one of the white tees for free. That’s a free C47, Brass Fastener, Prime Lens, or Producer tee, with the purchase of any three of the other t-shirts.

I’m feeling really generous now. I’m going to extend the free t-shirt deal to anyone that orders a Director’s Chair Hoodie as well. To get this deal on the Hoodie, you need to email me at info@filmtees.com and mention this blog. Also, please include your PayPal order number in that email.

An Extended Hiatus

So… I have been absent from the world of making movies for quite some time. I have a list of excuses, but I’ll keep it brief. The first reason that I have been away is because I have been unbelievably busy with freelance production work. Mostly post production, and most of that is commercial and promo editorial with a little bit of camera operation thrown in for good measure. It’s not so bad becasue my bills are getting paid.

The other reason is that I have opened a T-Shirt company for filmmakers called Film Tees. If you’re into making movies, I suggest you check it out because there are a bunch of great shirts that I’m sure you’ll dig. The main purpose of the new business is to allow me to stay home more often, and work on my first feature length screenplay. This is a movie that I have been thinking about making, and sort of working on for about six years. It’s about time I get going on it. I registered a domain for the new project, and I think I’m going to be keeping a blog over there. I’ll let you know. Until then… Check out Film Tees.

Site Changes and Technical Difficulties

Anyone that has tried to visit this site in the past couple of weeks is probably aware of the problems that I have had. I appologize for the delay in returning the site to working order. In the process of upgrading my installation of WordPress, I made a backup of the database. After making the backup, I re-installed WrordPress, then attempted to restore that backup. Well, it didn’t work. I tried everything I could think of. I finally had to have the hosting compnay restore it. It took them a while, but it’s done now.

Another noticeable change is that the domain for this blog is now paulzadie.com. It can still be reached by way of zadie.com or zadie.com/blog. That’s all for the technical difficulties. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Welcome to zadie.com

This being my first post, I want to state what my intentions are for this site. This blog is not going to be a giant pool of randomness. I don’t want to post just for the sake of posting irrelevant thoughts. Not to say that I won’t go off on a tangent or rant from time to time. I just want to keep it relevant to filmmaking. I will be working on the site in bite size chunks depending on my schedule and level of involvement in various projects that I am working on.

I am going to try to make zadie.com as useful as I can. I’m sure that there is going to be plenty of content here that may be useless, but I am going to give it a whole hearted effort. The resources link in the navigation bar is where you can find pretty much all of my bookmarked web sites related to film production, video production, 3D, visual effects and anything else related to making or watching movies. Links to various podcasts and tutorials that I find useful will also be in abundance.

I have amassed a collection of paperwork that will be posted on the forms page as well. Some of the production forms that I am going to be sharing are call sheets, schedules, logs, sign out sheets, contracts, and loads more. Lots of goodies to help out with your projects.

I hope you enjoy this site, and more importantly, get something out of it. Well, I hope you keep checking back. There will be many bumps (and brick walls) along this road of independent filmmaking, and hopefully we can help each other along.
