Supercharge Me… 30 Days Raw , the documentary feature that I have been editing, will be screened at the Sarasota Film Festival. It will have two showings. The first on Saturday April 14 at 12:15 pm, and the second on Monday April 16th at 8:15 pm. Anyone planning on attending the Sarasota Film Festival should make an effort to see this documentary. You can get tickets here. There are many documentaries made that appeal to a small or limited niche audience. The subject matter of Supercharge Me however, is relevant to everyone. That’s a big claim, I know. But anyone who eats can benefit from the powerful message of this film. So, if you happen to be at the festival, I highly recommend checking it out. Here is the synopsis from the Sarasota Film Festival site.
One day in her early thirties, Sarasota filmmaker Jenna Norwood made the shocking discovery that she had bad eating habits. Once an active dancer, Jenna’s sedentary adult lifestyle and disregard for nutrition left her with a body that didn’t suit the Las Vegas Showgirl costume she was determined to wear for Halloween. Inspired by filmmaker Morgan Spurlock’s 30-day experiment eating at McDonald’s, Jenna decided to do an opposing take—30 days of raw food at a San Diego detox retreat. Complete with interviews from preeminent raw food enthusiasts, Supercharge Me! is a dynamic journalistic autobiography about Jenna Norwood’s adventurous experiment and subsequent experiences with the raw food lifestyle.
I came across video101course.com today and thought I would share it. This site covers the basics of all the major areas of production. It truly is a 101 course in video production. This site is perfect if you are just starting out in the world of film and video production. It covers most of what you need to start building a solid foundation of production knowledge.
I’m having a special promotion at my T-Shirt company. For those that don’t know about Film Tees, it is the premiere online t-shirt shop for filmmakers. Go on over and take a look at some of the shirts. I’m sure you’ll find one that suits you. If not, I am always open to suggestions.
Here’s the deal on the promotion.
We are giving away a free shirt to anyone who orders three or more shirts. We quite literally need to make some room on the shelves for new designs and styles. Here are the details… If you order any three colored t-shirts (any that are not white), you get one of the white tees for free. That’s a free C47, Brass Fastener, Prime Lens, or Producer tee, with the purchase of any three of the other t-shirts.
I’m feeling really generous now. I’m going to extend the free t-shirt deal to anyone that orders a Director’s Chair Hoodie as well. To get this deal on the Hoodie, you need to email me at info@filmtees.com and mention this blog. Also, please include your PayPal order number in that email.
As most of the visitors to this site know, I love free stuff for filmmakers. Anything that helps to stay within budget is good in my book. Paul Harrill over at Self Reliant Film has posted links to some costuming related forms and resources.
In the world of lo/no budget film making, there are some aspects of production that just don’t get the attention that they deserve. With all of the technology available, so much time is spent deciding which camera or editing system to use. Wardrobe, and many other crafts, come as an afterthought all too often.
Go grab the PDFs, and check out the sites that Self Reliant Film links to. Also, don’t forget to check the Free Stuff page for production forms, storyboard templates, and links to some useful open source software.
My first feature length screenplay has been put on hold temporarily. I have been swamped with freelance work on projects for others. Most of the work I have had recently is commercial in nature. A vast majority of it is post-production. I have been working with a new client the past couple of months. That client is my friend, and producing partner, Eric Miles. Eric has opened a full service Advertising Agency/Production Company called CreativeLogic. I have been working on pretty much everything media related to get his new company going. The web site, business cards, brochures, DVD demo, and all kinds of other good stuff.
Another big project that I have been working on that is more filmmaking related is a feature length documentary that I’m editing called Supercharge Me… 30 Days Raw. Supercharge Me is a documentary about the Raw Food Diet. This documentary follows Producer, Director & “Guinea Pig”, Jenna Norwood on her 30 day quest for a healthier lifestyle through significant changes in her diet. Supercharge Me is making the rounds on the festival circuit. It’s screening today at the Raw Film Festival in Hollywood. It has done well at some of the festivals that it screened at including winning the award for best documentary at the Tofino Film Festival.
Now that Supercharge Me is wrapped, and my startup work for CreativeLogic is done, Eric and I are beginning work on a documentary of our own. More about that later.
